Where’s Waldo: Vagamon Village (not really)

The ride to the hotel well outside of Vagamon was only 26 miles (and that was including a detour route just to add distance) so we spent the morning in Kumily. Some of the group hired a guide for some trekking (we would call it hiking probably) and a few stayed in town. I stuck around and did some reading and web browsing/chatting. I found out that I have a layover in Bangalore for like 6 hours, which I’m not looking forward to. I wasn’t able to get on the internet there last time and even though it is new, there really isn’t much to do there.

We stopped in a small village during the ride today with the intention of visiting the factory there and seeing the villagers’ way of life. Turns out that a bus was there full of people that had driven down from Chennai for an arranged wedding. When we rode up kids swarmed our bikes like we were celebrities. Stranger still, we were ushered down into one of the houses, and all stacked up next to the bride and groom for pictures! I think most of us were pretty surprised by all of it, and none of us actually managed to get a picture.
